President Nixon personally named Brewer & Shipley, the folk-rock duo known in the 60s and 70s for their socially conscious music, as being public miscreants while Vice President Agnew labeled them as subversive to American youth. This performance of their biggest hit on the conservative family oriented Lawrence Welk Show exhibits the extent to which their nefarious tentacles were able to infiltrate American culture and pervert the youth. Lawrence Welk claims the song to be a modern spiritual and while myself and many other people have had spiritual experiences while listening to this song, I doubt they were the kind Nixon, Agnew, and Lawrence Welk approved of.
