College Pubs
All the Canadian schools have them too. We’re being upstaged.
I read and normally disagree with Jonah Goldberg. But, he mentioned something non-political that I thought was kinda interesting….
“ I had a very nice time with the College Republicans at the school’s pub. Polite, sharp, kids. I think this is only the third school I’ve been to with a still-thriving pub on campus. St. John’s — the men’s school — has a monastery where the monks make their own beer. I’ve already suggested to Rich that NR get a monastery for similar purposes.”
I don’t think I’ve ever been to a college or university in the U.S. with a pub, and that’s a goddamn shame. I think colleges and universities should all have centralized, subsidized pubs to promote safety (there may be some disagreement here) and social cohesion. I must also add that I’ve never been to a school in the UK that didn’t have such a place to meet, drink, and be merry.
