I wish I could take credit for this.
David Brooks references his article (one of my favorites of all time) in The Atlantic a decade ago regarding “Organization Kids”, the current generation of college students and graduates who unfailingly adhere to the belief in a completely meritocratic society and are unquestioningly deferential to authority, carefully crafting their personal and professional lives to maximize their career and social advancement. It’s a distinct possibility that Elena Kagan might just fit into that mold of a cautious, non-ideologically driven, careerist.
The best movie scene of all time.
Treme. I guarantee this will be the best fucking show this year. I can’t wait.
In the article I previously posted regarding David Frum being fired from the AEI, the Post referenced an editorial in the Wall Street Journal bashing Frum for blaming Republicans for their loss on the Health Care Bill. Reading the editorial is well worth your time because it is so absurd. My two favorite pieces from it:
“Mr. Frum now makes his living as the media’s go-to basher of fellow Republicans, which is a stock Beltway role. But he’s peddling bad revisionist history that would have been even worse politics….The reality is that ObamaCare is the price of two GOP electoral defeats caused by the failure of the DeLay Congress and a dismal Bush second term.”
and
“Republicans also suffered bad luck that gave Senate Democrats their 60 votes only after former Alaska Senator Ted Stevens was unjustly indicted, Minnesota’s Al Franken stole a recount from hapless Norm Coleman, and Pennsylvania’s Arlen Specter jumped ship.”
Enjoy!
